Superhero Party

This was for my son’s 4th birthday. 4 is a great age, they can do projects by themselves now. I decided to do the Superhero theme because one of the party ideas was to have the kids decorate their own masks and capes. There are some amazing party ideas for superheros. The website HWTM Daily Blog (Hostess with the mostess) inspired me to do the halftone dots and primary colors.

The Invitation This was a total internet based art invitation. I just found the characters (use desktop backgrounds, they are really big in size) and just used photoshop to do whatever I wanted. I also found the backgounds the same way. The fonts were all found on free on the internet too. And it was a cheap invite to do since I didn’t have to get any card stock, I printed it on regular paper. My son was into Marvel Super Squad superheros at the time so I scavenged TONS of desktop images that I could use. And I got the idea for the invitation from the super hero squad website where you can create your own superhero comic.

Superhero Making Capes

Superhero capes and mask I got plain capes (pink and purple for girls and blue and red for boys). I found the super hero symbols on the internet, printed them out and then cut them out and traced them on adhesive felt and adhesive foam paper.  I assembled the symbols so the kids could choose whether they wanted to be batman/girl, superman/women, or spiderman and then cut out a bunch of stars in various colors that they could put on their capes. For the masks I found some templates on the internet. Sized them down to kid sizes (did a couple trial runs before I got the right size). I cut the masks out of pink and black foam, I did 2 plain ones and then a batman one. I then got sticker jewels and stuff to stick on the masks.

superhero cupcakes

Superhero cupcakes I did chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting. I printed out cupcake toppers and wrappers that I had made from some of the marvel superhero squad. I forgot to take a picture of the cake, but I did a batman fondant symbol on top of a sheet cake. It was my first time working with fondant and it was much easier then I thought. I just printed out the yellow shape, cut that out of yellow fondant and then cut the black batman symbol out of the black fondant.

superhero thank you card

Thank you card  I asked my son to pose with one of the masks (his cousin had made) against a white background and then just added some superhero text. It came out nice.

Superhero Symbols Here are templates for the superhero symbols, batman, spiderman, and superman. SuperheroSymbols_ForCapes

I got them off amazon, but I just tried to search for them, but it doesn’t seem like they are offering them anymore. I did find the company that I got them from on amazon: Making Believe (sold by Shazz Sales LLC)
. Try contacting them and seeing if they would make more. I think they were like $3-4 per cape. I can send you some superhero symbols templates for the capes if you want to use it to cut out of the adhesive felt. I have batman, spiderman, and superman. Just let me know.

Thank you! What exactly are you looking for? I am going to start an etsy store, I am hopefully going to get it up this weekend, so as payment you can ‘like’ and ‘pin’ some of my stuff there. I will probably try and put this super squad stuff up there also. Is the invitation something that you would be interested in? Or just the cupcake toppers and wrappers? Let me know and I can see what we can work out.

Thank you so much!! Yes I would love the invitation and the signs that you created on your table with the masks and capes. This is very nice of you. I was planning an art party for my son and he just decided he wanted to do a superhero squad and I can’t find anything.

    Hi,
For my son’s 4th b-day I am also pulling together a superhero theme and I just love your cape and mask with the symbols.

I have tried using the above link to download the symbols file and it seems to be all piled one on top of the other. I tried looking in your etsy store and I didn’t find them. Would you please email me the pdf file ?

    Many thanks

What fonts did you use? I am having a difficult time finding shadow fonts like you’d see in a comic book – BAM -POW -ZAP!
    Thanks,
